Introducing a new marketing channel: Microsoft Flight Simulator π«
A new way to engage and reach customers
What happened so far?
Improving GatherIn's blog page
I've been super busy creating articles for GatherIn's blog page. Why? To maintain good search rankings on Google, it's important to publish regular content. I guess this is how Google creates another lock-in effect...
From a technical point of view, the blog page also had to be updated. The feedback I received was that the dark theme made it hard for users to read the content. GatherIn's new blog page is now in light mode, making it much easier to read.

Experimenting with a new marketing channel: Microsoft Flight Simulator π«
I've been thinking a lot lately about the ways I can find new users and grow my business. I know that Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels are great places to start, but they're not the only ones. Why? Because I believe in experimentation, and I think it's important to push beyond what's comfortable and familiar. In fact, there's a whole world of different marketing channels out there right nowβand I want to explore them all π€©
Instead of focusing on the usual marketing channels like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagramβ I decided to kick things off with Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) π«:
A new marketplaceMSFS is not just a simulation: Microsoft created a new marketplace for 3d graphic designers, developers, and artists. There are hundreds of "liveries" available for purchase by anyone who wants to put their own branding on an Airbus A320 or Boeing 747-400. It's like creating your own custom car βbut for airplanes! #Winning πAnd here's where it gets interesting: You can also design your own livery (or even create an entire airline!) in MSFS and make it available for purchase on the marketplace.I decided this was worth exploring because it seemed like such a cool way to build a community with new users. And here's an example of a custom livery for the Airbus A320 with GatherIn branding:
I found a designer on Fiverr who specializes in creating liveries for all kinds of planes. On average, the designer charges around 40 USD per order. This is a great example of how Microsoft created a brand new marketplace (probably without even realizing it π).
In my opinion, Microsoft Flight Simulator can offer new ways to reach customers and users.
A new form of content creation
I've even used Microsoft Flight Simulator for my brand new GatherIn FM Youtube channel πThe above-mentioned livery was used for my Youtube video, called Sunrise βοΈ
Thanks to the amazing graphics in MSFS, content creators and influencers can now create amazing and unique content. For marketers, MSFS could become a new marketing channel. If you're interested in learning more about this new marketing model β email me at [email protected] - let's chat.
